Gunnar Beck is a German politician, academic and lawyer. He is a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) / Alternative for Germany party since the 2019 elections. Currently, Beck holds the position of deputy chairman of the AfD in the European Parliament and Vice-President of the Identity & Democracy Group. He is a member of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Delegation to the EU-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, among others.

The 8th parliamentary election in Russia was held from 17 to 19 September 2021. With the exception of the election in Russia-annexed Crimea, this election is considered legitimate. Opposition candidates and independent observation of the election were prohibited and experts called this the dirtiest election in Russia's history.
