Aymeric Chauprade is a French writer, political scientist and a former MEP. He left the National Rally / Rassemblement National (former National Front) on 9 November 2015, mostly for "moral and political" principles, to found Les Français Libres (The Free French) in 2016. The party was dissolved in 2017. Aymeric Chauprade was a member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2019, where he held the position of Vice-President of the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy group (2018-2019). He was a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and of the Security and Defense Sub-Committee. Yelizaveta Peskova, daughter of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, served in the European Parliament as an assistant to Aymeric Chauprade, who publicly supported Russia’s 2014 annexation of Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula.
